how we work

our production process

Our production processes are designed to provide high quality website design and web development solutions on time, within budget & without surprises...

discovery

The first step is for us to gain an understanding of your business needs and then agree an approach.

We will formally document the proposed solution to ensure that there is a mutual understanding of the scope of work, the expected duration, and the costs involved.

Following your approval of the proposal the project will be formally handed over to the production team and can proceed into the definition phase.

definition

The level of definition will depend upon the size, nature and complexity of the project but as a minimum will consist of a functional specification detailing the proposed navigation, structure and user interface.

Your approval of the specification is important as it will be used as a template throughout the design and development process. Following your approval the project can proceed into the design phase.

design

The design phase is where our team of designers concentrate on the visual aspects of the website, and where required, your branding and stationery.

At the end of this process you will be provided with mock-ups so that you can see how the graphics will convey your brand and message to the outside world.

Following your approval of the designs the project can proceed into the development phase.

development

During this phase our team of web developers and programmers will transform the static designs into a standards compliant, fully functional website using the latest proven technologies.

After alpha testing in a development environment, the beta website will be published to an interim ‘staging’ server to simulate ‘real-life’ conditions. Following internal approval the project can proceed into the validation phase.

validation

The validation phase consists of two parts, internal validation, termed quality assurance testing, and user acceptance testing, termed UAT. Quality assurance testing simulates end-use across a range of browsers and verifies that the website complies with the agreed requirements and standards.

Following internal approval, the staging server will be made available to you so that you can carry out UAT and upload content prior to launch. Following your acceptance the project can proceed into the launch phase.

launch

The launch phase is where your website and its content are migrated from the private staging environment to the live server where the website will become accessible to the world-wide-web.

To ensure a smooth and trouble-free launch the development team will closely monitor the website during the process and take proactive action if the need arises.

Following a successful launch the website will move into service life and if you have a service agreement in place then this will take immediate effect.

service

After your website is in service, it is important to monitor and review its performance on a regular basis to ensure that it continues to satisfy your business needs.

Our customer services team can provide you with ongoing support across a range of activities such as website statistics and analysis, search engine optimisation and improving the user experience through content management.
